Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Suzuki GSX 650. It ain’t no fancy-pants thing, but it gets ya where ya need to go, and it does it pretty darn quick.

First off, this here bike, they call it a “sport touring” motorcycle. I ain’t sure what that means exactly, but I reckon it means it’s fast and ya can go far on it. They say it’s like a new and improved Bandit, whatever a Bandit is. Folks used to ride somethin’ called a Katana, but they don’t make ’em no more, so this here GSX 650, it kinda took its place.
Now, the engine, that’s the important part, right? This one’s got a 656 somethin’-somethin’ cc engine. CCs, I dunno what that means, but the bigger the better, I always say! And this here engine, it’s “liquid-cooled.” Sounds fancy, but I guess it just means it don’t overheat when you’re goin’ fast. And it’s got 85 somethin’ they call “bhp.” That’s like horsepower, I think. Means it’s got some get-up-and-go, ya know?
- Engine: 656 cc, liquid-cooled
- Power: 85 bhp (63 kW)
- Transmission: 6-speed manual
This GSX 650, it’s got six gears. You gotta shift ’em yourself, but that’s part of the fun, ain’t it? And it’s got a chain and sprockets, like most bikes do. Nothin’ fancy there. They say it weighs ’bout 541 pounds. That’s a lot of pounds, but it don’t feel that heavy when you’re ridin’ it. Probably ’cause that engine’s so powerful.
And speed? Oh, this thing can go fast! I heard tell it can hit 131 miles per hour. That’s faster than I ever need to go, but it’s good to know it can do it. Other bikes, like them GSX-R 600s and 1000s, they can go even faster. Heard the 1000 can hit over 200! But this 650, it’s fast enough for me. I ain’t tryin’ to break no land speed records.
Some of these new bikes, they got all sorts of buttons and gadgets. This one, it ain’t too complicated. It’s got somethin’ called a “Drive Mode Selector.” I guess that lets you change how the bike rides, but I just leave it in one mode and go. I ain’t got time for all that fancy stuff.

This particular GSX 650 I’m talkin’ about, it’s a 2008 model. They started makin’ ’em back then, right after they came out with that there Hayabusa. That’s another fast bike, but it’s a whole different beast. This 650, it’s more… sensible, I guess you could say. It’s a good, reliable bike. It’ll get ya where ya need to go, and it won’t break the bank doin’ it.
Suzuki GSX 650 top speed ain’t the only thing that matters, though. It’s also about how it handles, how it feels. And this bike, it feels good. It’s comfortable enough to ride for a while, and it’s nimble enough to handle the curves. It ain’t no race bike, but it’s fun to ride. And that’s what matters most, ain’t it? If you want somethin’ that’s fast and reliable, this Suzuki GSX 650, well, it’s worth a look.
Now, I ain’t no expert or nothin’, but I know what I like. And I like this here bike. It’s a good, honest machine. It ain’t flashy, it ain’t got all the bells and whistles, but it gets the job done. And that’s all I need.
So if you’re lookin’ for a motorcycle that’s gonna be there for ya, somethin’ that ain’t gonna cost ya an arm and a leg, and somethin’ that’s got a little pep in its step, well, this Suzuki GSX 650, it might just be the ticket.
