This damn football game, Talleres Córdoba vs River Plate, all the folks been talking about it. My grandson, he keep saying it’s a big deal, a big deal. He’s glued to that darn phone, always checking something they call “odds”. What’s that even mean?

He says this River Plate, they are some big shot team. Like they’re some kinda kings or something. They got some fancy number, like “-163”. I don’t know what that is, probably how many goals they gonna get. Who knows? Maybe they good, maybe they not. We’ll see, won’t we?
Then there’s this other team, Talleres. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? My grandson, he says they gonna play in their own yard, some “home advantage” thing. Like having your own chickens in your own coop, I reckon. Maybe they got a good chance, being at home and all.
- They say Talleres, they won some games against this River Plate before. Three times, they said.
- Played away, even, like going to a neighbor’s house to borrow sugar. And they won, those Talleres folks.
- So, maybe, just maybe, they can do it again. Who knows? Football is a funny thing.
This whole thing, it’s happening on a Sunday, they say. River Plate gonna host Talleres Córdoba, whatever that means. Like having folks over for supper, I guess. Hope they got enough food.
And this other thing, they talking about “goals”. Like how many times they kick that ball into the net. They say there’s gonna be a lot of them, more than two and a half. How can you have half a goal? Sounds silly to me. But they seem to think it’s important, these “over 2.5 total goals”.
They even saying when this whole thing gonna happen. August 15th. That’s a long way off. Plenty of time for things to change. Maybe a player gets a tummy ache, or a chicken gets loose on the field. You never know with these things.

My grandson, he keeps going on about “predictions”. Like he’s some kinda fortune teller. Says Talleres Cordoba gonna win the first part of this thing, this “first-leg tie”. Sounds like a horse race to me. He’s all excited, thinks they in “good form”. Like they been eating their vegetables or something.
This whole Talleres Córdoba vs River Plate thing, it’s all over the place. Even got some fancy name, “Primera Division”. Sounds important, I guess. They even gonna play it again, sometime in September, on the 29th. Another Sunday. Seems like they play this football thing every Sunday. Back in my day, Sunday was for church and resting, not kicking a ball around.
They even got these things, these “tags” they call them. Like price tags on a dress. They got “Club Atlético River Plate”, “Club Atlético Talleres de Remedios de Escalada”, “Match”, “Crdoba”, “Prediction”. Sounds like a whole lot of nothing to me, but my grandson, he says it’s important for something called the “internet”.
I don’t know much about this Talleres Córdoba vs River Plate game. But all this hootin’ and hollerin’ about it, it’s got me curious. Maybe I’ll watch it with my grandson. Maybe I’ll even understand it. Or maybe I’ll just fall asleep. We’ll see. It’s just a game, after all. A bunch of folks running around, kicking a ball. But hey, if it makes my grandson happy, then I guess it’s alright.
These young folks and their football. Always something new. But I guess that’s just the way of the world. Keeps spinning, even if you don’t know why they call it “over 2.5 total goals” or what a “-163” means. Just gotta roll with it, I suppose. Just like planting seeds and hoping they grow. You do what you can, and you see what happens. That’s life, ain’t it? Just like this Talleres Córdoba vs River Plate game. You watch, you wait, and you see who wins.

Maybe it’s worth watching. I will ask my grandson to explain the rule of the game. He is always happy to talk about this. That’s good, at least he can talk to me even though I don’t understand a lot. That’s all, I don’t know what else to say. I am just an old lady. This Talleres Córdoba vs River Plate game, it sounds complicated but fun. I hope I can understand the rule, I hope I don’t fall asleep.
