Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and play some tennis. I haven’t played in ages, and I thought, “Why not document this whole thing?” So, here’s how my tennis day went, from start to finish.

Getting Ready
First, I dug out my old tennis bag. It was buried in the closet, under a pile of stuff I’d forgotten about. I unzipped it and found my racket, a bit dusty but still in good shape. I also found some old tennis balls. They were probably flat, but I figured they’d do for a casual hit.
Next, I changed into some athletic clothes. Nothing fancy, just some shorts and a t-shirt. I made sure to put on sunscreen because the sun was blazing today. I also grabbed a water bottle. Gotta stay hydrated, you know?
Hitting the Court
I drove over.I walked onto the court, and it felt good to be back. I took a few practice swings. It felt a little weird at first, like my body had forgotten what to do.
- First serve: Total whiff.
- Second serve: Barely made it over the net.
- Third serve: Finally, a decent one!
Playing the game
I started by just hitting the ball back and forth. No real game, just trying to get a feel for it again. My forehand was okay, but my backhand was all over the place. And those old tennis balls? Yeah, totally flat. They barely bounced.
I tried to play a few points, just to see how it would go. I won some, I lost some. It didn’t really matter. I was just happy to be out there, moving around and hitting the ball. I sweated a lot, and my arm started to get tired, but it was a good kind of tired.

Wrapping Up
After about an hour, I decided to call it a day. My body was definitely feeling it. I packed up my racket and the sad, flat tennis balls. I took a big swig of water, and I felt great. It was a good workout, and it was fun. I was also really beat so I went home to take a nap.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. Maybe next time, I’ll get some new balls. And maybe I’ll even work on that backhand.
