Okay, so today I decided to mess around with finding “worst numbers.” Don’t ask me why, it just seemed like a fun little challenge. I started by, well, thinking about what even makes a number “bad”. Is it unlucky? Complicated? Prime?

I grabbed my notebook and a pen, and started brainstorming. I jotted down some initial ideas:
- 13 (obviously)
- 7 (some people hate it)
- 666 (the classic)
- 0(what is 0?)
- Really big, messy prime numbers
Round One: The Obvious Ones
First, I wanted to get the easy ones out of the way. Like, 13 is pretty universally considered unlucky. And 666? No explanation needed. I made a little table in my notebook, just listing these out and a quick reason why they’re “bad.”
Round Two: Getting a Bit Deeper
Next, I started thinking about numbers that are just annoying to deal with. Like, extremely long prime numbers. I even pulled out my phone’s calculator and tried multiplying some random big numbers together to see if I could make a “bad” number. 7 is always my annoying number,so I tried it.
Round Three: Realizations and Messy Notes
After a while, I realized this was a pretty subjective thing! What I consider a “worst” number might be someone else’s favorite. My notebook was filled with crossed-out numbers, arrows pointing everywhere, and random doodles.
I tried:

- write down some large prime numbers
- Calculate
- Find patterns
The (Anti-)Climax
Honestly, I didn’t really find a definitive “worst number.” 666 is the most evil * It’s more about the stories and associations we give to numbers. But hey, it was a fun way to waste an hour, and my notebook looks like a mad scientist’s diary now, which is kind of cool in * is all.
