Alright, so I decided to mess around with creating a “drink pic” today. It’s something I’ve seen all over, and I wanted to give it a shot myself.

Getting Started
First, I needed a drink. I grabbed a can of soda from the fridge – nothing fancy, just a regular cola. Then, I looked around my place for a decent spot to take the picture. My kitchen counter was a mess, so that was out.
Finding the Right Light
I ended up near the window in my living room. The sunlight was coming in pretty nicely, giving everything a warm glow. I figured that would make for a good backdrop. I played the can on a coaster on the windowsill.
Setting the Scene
I placed the can on a coaster, I think to avoid water rings, then try to make it look a little “styled,” I guess. I grabbed a small houseplant – a succulent – and put it next to the can. Seemed a little bare, so I tossed my keys on the table too, kind of casually.
Taking the Photos
Next, time for pictures! I just used my phone. I took a bunch from different angles:
- Straight-on shot: Just the can and the succulent, pretty basic.
- Slightly above: Looking down at the can, showing a bit of the windowsill and my keys.
- Close-up: Focused on the condensation droplets on the can. I thought that looked pretty cool.
- With me in it: I tried a few holding the can, with the window light behind me. A bit tricky to get the lighting right!
Editing
After I had a ton of photos, I looked through them and picked a few that I liked best. I didn’t do any heavy editing, just bumped up the brightness a little on one and cropped another to get a better composition.

The Final Result
And that’s it! I ended up with a few “drink pics” that I thought were pretty decent. It was actually more fun than I expected, playing around with the setup and trying to get a good shot. Might try it again with different drinks and settings!
