Alright, let me tell you about this week’s Nightfall weapon grind. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but hey, that’s Destiny, right?
The Goal: This week, I was after the Hung Jury SR4. I know, I know, it’s an oldie but a goodie. Plus, I wanted a specific roll for PvE, something with Subsistence and Firefly. Figured it would be great for clearing out those pesky red bars.
The Grind Begins: So, I jumped into the Nightfall, which was The Arms Dealer this week. Not my favorite, but not the worst either. I started running it on Hero difficulty, just to get a feel for the modifiers and the general flow. A few runs in, and I was getting it down pretty smoothly. I was mostly soloing it since my friends were busy playing other games.
Upping the Difficulty: After a few Hero runs, I decided to crank it up to Legend. Things got a little tougher, obviously. The enemies hit harder, and there were more Champions to deal with. But the drop rates for the Hung Jury are definitely better on Legend, so it felt worth it. I had to really focus on my loadout, making sure I had Champion mods equipped and a good mix of damage types.
Loadout Choices: I was running a Void Warlock, so I leaned heavily into Void weapons. My go-to was a Funnelweb with Subsistence and Frenzy for ad clear, a Cartesian Coordinate for burst damage against Champions, and a Corrective Measure for overall heavy damage. For mods, I made sure to have Anti-Barrier and Overload mods equipped.
The Disappointment: I ran the Nightfall on Legend probably about 15 times. Each run took around 20 minutes, give or take. And what did I get? A whole bunch of enhancement prisms, golf balls, and a bunch of other Nightfall weapons I didn’t want. No Hung Jury. It was getting frustrating, to say the least.
Desperation Mode: I was starting to lose hope, but I decided to try one last thing: Grandmaster Nightfall. I know, it’s a big jump from Legend, but I figured the significantly higher drop rates might be worth the pain. I watched a few guides online to familiarize myself with the GM-specific mechanics, and I grabbed a couple of my clanmates to join me.
Grandmaster Pain: The GM was brutal. It was probably the hardest thing I’ve done in Destiny in a while. We were constantly getting one-shotted, swarmed by enemies, and dealing with what felt like an endless stream of Champions. I had to change my loadout, adding Arbalest to deal with Barrier Champions and focusing on staying alive above all else. Teamwork was crucial, and we were constantly communicating, calling out enemy positions and coordinating our supers.
The Payoff (Finally!): After about two hours of struggling, wiping, and slowly chipping away at the boss’s health, we finally did it. We cleared the Grandmaster Nightfall! And guess what? On the very first GM clear, a Hung Jury dropped. Not only that, but it had Subsistence and Firefly! I couldn’t believe it.
Final Thoughts: This week’s Nightfall grind was a real test of patience and perseverance. It took a lot of time, effort, and frustration, but in the end, it was worth it. The Hung Jury with Subsistence and Firefly is exactly what I wanted, and it’s already making a huge difference in my PvE gameplay. Plus, clearing a GM Nightfall always feels like a huge accomplishment. So yeah, that was my Nightfall weapon experience this week. Now, time to go use this thing!
