Okay, so today I decided to tackle the whole “fashion faux pas” thing head-on. I’ve always been a bit… clueless when it comes to fashion, often throwing on whatever’s clean and calling it a day. But I figured it was time for a change, so I dove in.

My Experiment Begins
First, I googled “common fashion mistakes.” Oh boy, was that a rabbit hole. Apparently, I’ve been committing fashion crimes left and right. Things I thought were totally fine, like wearing socks with sandals (comfort first, people!), were apparently huge no-nos.
I picked out a few of the “faux pas” that I was definitely guilty of:
- Wearing visible bra straps.
- Mismatched patterns.
- Too many accessories at one time.
- Clothes that don’t fit right (too tight or too loose).
- Wrinkled clothes.
The Hard Part: Fixing My Mistakes
So, armed with my new-found knowledge, I went to my closet. It was a war zone. I started by pulling out everything that was obviously wrinkled or didn’t fit. That alone cleared out, like, half my wardrobe. Then came the painful part: trying things on.
I realized I had a lot of clothes that were either way too big (hello, baggy shirts from my college days) or uncomfortably tight. I also noticed a disturbing trend of clashing patterns. Stripes with polka dots? Yeah, that was me.

I spent a good hour just mixing and matching, trying to create outfits that didn’t violate any of the fashion rules I’d just learned. It was tougher than I thought! I kept second-guessing myself, wondering if my definition of “matching” was way off.
The Results (So Far)
I’m not going to lie, it was exhausting. But I did manage to put together a few outfits that I think are actually… presentable. I even ironed a shirt! I know, shocking. And the visible bra straps? Gone. Replaced with a strapless bra that, honestly, I should have invested in years ago.
I’m still a work in progress, obviously. I’m not about to become a fashion icon overnight. But I feel like I’ve taken a baby step in the right direction. At least now I know what not to wear. Maybe next time I’ll tackle the whole “what colors go together” thing. Wish me luck!
