Okay, so I wanted to get a definitive list of rugby clubs in France. You know, for… reasons. Anyway, I figured it would be a fun little project to try and scrape this data together myself. I’m no expert, but I like to mess around with this stuff.
Getting Started
First, I fired up my trusty web browser and started searching. I tried a few different search terms, like “list of french rugby clubs,” “french rugby teams by division,” that kind of thing. I quickly realized that there wasn’t one single, perfect source. It’s all spread out across different websites, Wikipedia pages, and league sites.
Digging into the Data
I started by checking out the official websites for the top leagues, like the Top 14 and Pro D2. These sites usually have pretty good info on the clubs in their respective leagues. I copied down the names, locations, maybe some extra details if they were readily available. It was a bit manual, but hey, it’s part of the process.
Then I moved on to Wikipedia. There are some decent pages listing French rugby clubs, sometimes broken down by region or division. I found that some of the lists were more complete than others, so I had to be careful and cross-reference things.
