Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Town of Coventry Public Works. Now, I ain’t no fancy writer or nothin’, but I’ll tell ya what I know, plain and simple like.

First off, these folks, they take care of the roads. Yeah, all them roads around here. They say they got somethin’ like 228 miles of ’em. That’s a whole lotta road if ya ask me. Keeps ’em busy, I reckon. They’re always fixin’ potholes and stuff. Gotta keep them cars from bouncing all over the place, you know? And in the winter, they’re out there plowin’ the snow. Lord knows we get enough of that white stuff around here.
- Road Maintenance: Fixing potholes, patching cracks, the whole shebang.
- Snow Plowing: Gettin’ rid of that snow so we can get around.
- Street Sweeping: They clean up the streets, startin’ in April. Get rid of all the dirt and junk.
Now, I heard tell they do more than just roads. They got somethin’ to do with the sewers too. That’s important, I guess. Nobody wants that stuff backin’ up, that’s for sure. And they got somethin’ called a “Tax Assessor.” Don’t rightly know what that is, but it sounds official, you know? Probably somethin’ to do with money and taxes.
They got a place over on Wood Street. Called it the Human Services or Senior Center. Guess that’s where you go if ya need help or somethin’. I ain’t been there myself, but it’s good to know it’s there. They got a phone number too, 822-9175. And some lady named Stephanie somethin’ or other. You can email her at that sin thing at *, but I ain’t got no computer, so I ain’t gonna bother with that. And that Robert fellow, he got his own number too. 822-9177. Seems like they got a lot of folks workin’ there.
Now, if ya wanna find out more, ya can look ’em up on somethin’ called “Facebook.” My grandkids are always on that thing. Seems like everyone’s on it these days. I don’t know how to use it, mind you, but they post pictures and stuff. You can probably see what they’re up to.
I also heard you can find ’em on that map thing, ya know, the one that tells ya how to get somewhere? They got an address and all. People even write reviews about ’em. Sayin’ if they do a good job or not. Seems like most folks are happy enough with ’em.

Coventry Public Works Department, they call themselves. Sounds important, don’t it? And I guess it is. Someone’s gotta keep this town running. And from what I can tell, they’re doin’ a pretty good job of it.
They also got somethin’ to do with the schools, I think. The “School Department” they call it. Kids gotta get to school somehow, and them buses need roads to drive on, so I guess it all connects. It’s like a big puzzle, all these different pieces fittin’ together.
And don’t forget the sewer authority, now. That’s somethin’ we don’t like to think about too much, but it’s important. Keeps things clean and healthy, you know? You don’t want that mess in your backyard. They take care of that business so we don’t have to worry about it.
So, yeah, that’s the Town of Coventry Public Works in a nutshell. They fix the roads, keep the sewers runnin’, and do a bunch of other stuff too. They got a place ya can go if ya need help, and ya can find ’em online if ya know how to do that sort of thing. They seem like decent folks, workin’ hard to keep our town in good shape. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it?
They got trucks and all sorts of equipment. Big ol’ machines that can do just about anything. I see ’em drivin’ around town all the time. Always busy, busy, busy. It ain’t an easy job, that’s for sure. But somebody’s gotta do it. And we’re lucky to have ‘em.
They’re part of the town government, you see. Work for the town. And that means they work for us, the people. So if ya got a problem with the roads or the sewers or somethin’, they’re the ones ya gotta talk to. They’ll listen to ya, I reckon. They’re there to help.
