Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… this… Trevor Svajda fella. Heard his name a few times, seems like he’s a big deal, or at least some folks think he is. Don’t know much about tennis myself, but my grandson, he watches it sometimes, yelling at the TV like those fellas can hear him.

So, this Trevor guy, first thing I heard is he’s playin’ some serious tennis. Like, real serious. Folks call him a “Blue Chip” player. Sounds fancy, must be good, I reckon. They say he’s goin’ to some college, SMU they call it. Guess that’s a big deal for these young’uns. He signed up in November, last year, 2023 it was. My memory ain’t what it used to be, but I remember that much. My arthritis was actin’ up somethin’ fierce that month, too. Anyway, this boy, Trevor, he’s playing tennis with the big boys now, college and all.
Now, there’s another Trevor, a firefighter fella, name of Trevor Brown. Poor soul, gone too soon. Terrible thing happened, an explosion it was. Heard about it on the news, all them sirens wailin’. He was just 45, young man really. Left behind a whole mess of hurt, they said, 13 other folks got hurt too. This happened in Loudoun County, they said. Awful, just awful. That fire marshal, they looked into it, tried to figure out what went wrong. Sometimes, things just happen, no matter how careful you are, I guess. Lost my husband to a bad fall a few years back, so I know a thing or two about losing someone.
- Trevor Svajda: The tennis player. Young fella, goin’ places.
- Trevor Brown: The firefighter. Brave man, lost in that explosion.
See, it’s funny, two Trevors, two different stories. One’s just starting out, all full of life, and the other, well, his life was cut short. Makes you think, don’t it? Life’s a funny thing, unpredictable as a spring storm. You never know what’s comin’.
This Trevor Svajda, he’s got a brother, Zach. He’s a tennis player too, a professional one at that. World class, they say. Top 150 in the whole wide world. Imagine that! My goodness. Guess tennis runs in the family, like how my family all had big feet. This Trevor, he’s got some good coaches too, one of them is his own daddy! That’s nice, keeping it in the family. My grandpappy taught my daddy how to farm, and my daddy taught my husband. Things is better that way, sometimes.
Now, someone asked me about quitting a job after just one week. Said he got a contract job, doin’ somethin’ with computers, web development they called it, but it weren’t what he expected. Well, I say, if it don’t feel right, it don’t feel right. Life’s too short to be miserable. Just like that poor Trevor Brown, you never know what tomorrow brings. If that job ain’t for you, go find somethin’ that makes you happy. Don’t matter what anyone else says. You gotta do what’s right for you, that’s what I always say. My sister, she worked at that factory for thirty years, hated every minute of it. Wasted her life, I tell ya. Don’t be like my sister.

So, back to this Trevor Svajda. He’s got a bright future, people say. Tennis, college, maybe even the Olympics one day, who knows? He’s just a young’un, got his whole life ahead of him. I hope he makes the most of it. And as for that other Trevor, Trevor Brown, well, may he rest in peace. He was a hero, in his own way, helping folks, keeping them safe. Two Trevors, different paths, but both stories worth tellin’, I reckon.
And that’s all I got to say about it. Trevor Svajda, Trevor Brown… Two names, two stories. Life’s funny, ain’t it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, my soaps are about to come on. And don’t forget, you gotta do what makes you happy in this life, because you only get one go-round.
