Well, let me tell ya ’bout this young fella, Tyler Kolek. Folks are makin’ a big fuss about him gettin’ drafted into that NBA thing.

Tyler Kolek, the NBA Draft, and All That Jazz
Now, I don’t know much about basketball, ya know? But from what I hear, this Tyler kid, he’s somethin’ special. They say he’s a “guard” and a “forward.” Sounds like he runs around a lot, throwin’ a ball and whatnot. He played for some fancy school called Marquette University, wherever that is. Sounds fancy, that’s for sure.
- Drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers, pick number 34!
- Played college ball at Marquette University.
- People call him a “guard” and a “forward.” I ain’t never heard of such a thing.
Seems like a lot of teams were lookin’ at him. The Portland Trail Blazers, they picked him up. Then, somethin’ happened, and now he’s with the New York Knicks. Guess they traded him or somethin’. That’s what my grandson told me, anyway. He knows all about these sports things. Says Tyler was the 34th pick overall, and some other fella from his team, Oso somethin’-or-other, went 40th. Big deal, I guess.
This draft thing, it sounds like a whole lotta hoo-ha. They had this other fella, Risacher, some French kid, picked first overall. Guess he’s supposed to be real good. But Tyler, he’s no slouch, I tell ya. They say he’s got “experience.” Well, I got experience too, bein’ old and all. Don’t mean I can play basketball, though.
The Kid’s Got Numbers, They Say

My grandson, he’s always talkin’ numbers. He says Tyler, last year, he got somethin’ like 15 points a game, almost 5 rebounds, and over 7 assists. Don’t ask me what all that means. Sounds like he’s good at sharin’, though. He shot the ball almost 50% from the field, and almost 40% from that three-point line. Whatever that is. Folks say he’s a “great floor general.” Sounds like he’s the boss out there on the court. They also say he’s got a “feel for the game.” Well, I got a feel for when it’s gonna rain, so maybe we ain’t so different, him and me.
New York Knicks and What Not
So, now this Tyler Kolek, he’s with the New York Knicks. My grandson says their coach, Thibodeau, he don’t like playin’ rookies much. Says they gotta earn their keep. Well, that sounds fair enough. Nothin’ in life comes easy, that’s for sure. They even traded up to get him in the second round. Must’ve really wanted the boy.
Tyler Kolek: An NBA Future?
Folks are sayin’ Tyler’s got a future in the NBA. Well, I hope so. He seems like a nice young man, from what I’ve seen on that TV thing. My grandson says he’s ranked pretty high, like number 29 on some list. Sounds important. They’re callin’ him a “great floor general with elite feel for the game.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it?

Final Thoughts
So, there ya have it. Tyler Kolek, drafted into the NBA. Seems like a big deal. He’s got the numbers, the skills, and now he’s got a team. I hope he does well. It’s always nice to see a young fella make somethin’ of himself. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even understand what all this basketball stuff is about. But until then, I’ll just keep watchin’ the news and listenin’ to my grandson ramble on. He seems to know what he’s talkin’ about, even if I don’t.
