Okay, so I’ve been wanting to combine two of my favorite things: hanging out with my dog, Buster, and playing golf. Sounds kinda crazy, right? But I figured there had to be some dog-friendly golf courses out there. So, I started my mission.

The Hunt Begins
First, I jumped onto Google. Just typed in “dog friendly golf courses near me” and… not much. A few articles, some outdated forum posts. Nothing concrete. It felt like searching for a needle in a haystack, I am telling you.
Digging Deeper
I decided to get a little more specific. I started searching for golf courses in my state, then individually checked their websites. Most of them didn’t say anything about dogs, so I assume they don’t allow it, you know?
Then, I thought, “Okay, maybe calling is the best way.” So I picked up the phone and started dialing. I felt like a telemarketer, only much friendlier. I was simply asked them, “Hey, do you guys allow dogs on the course?” Most of the responses I have got are just, “Uh, no, absolutely not.”
A Glimmer of Hope
But then! I called this one place, a smaller, kinda out-of-the-way course, and the guy on the phone hesitated. He said, “Well, we don’t officially have a policy, but as long as your dog is well-behaved and on a leash, I don’t see why not.”
I was stoked! Finally, a maybe!

The Test Run
So, last weekend, I packed up Buster, his leash, some water, and my clubs, and we headed out. I was a little nervous, to be honest. I didn’t want Buster to, like, chase after golf balls or bark at other players. I was prepared for a fast U-turn, to be honest.
- I made sure Buster had gone to the bathroom before we started.
- I kept him on a short leash, right by my side.
- I brought lots of treats to keep him occupied.
And you know what? It was awesome! Buster was a perfect gentleman. He just trotted alongside me, sniffing the grass and enjoying the fresh air. He didn’t bother anyone, and I got to enjoy a round of golf with my best buddy. I played, I walked, I chatted, and mostly importantly, I enjoyed!
Success!
It turns out, finding a dog-friendly golf course is tough, but not impossible. It might take some extra effort, some phone calls, and maybe settling for a less-fancy course. But for me, it was totally worth it. Now I can’t wait for our next golf outing!
