Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following your guidelines:
So, I wanted to mess around with this “villanow ga” thing I kept hearing about. I had some free time and figured, why not? Let’s see what this is all about. I’m not a coder or anything, just a regular person who likes to tinker.
Getting Started
First, I needed to find out exactly what villanow ga even was. I did some digging, you know, just Googling around. It seemed like some kind of… visual novel thing? Or maybe a game engine? Honestly, I was still a little fuzzy on the details, but I figured I’d learn by doing.
The Install Process (Ugh)
I found a page, downloaded the thing. Then started install it, oh boy, that took a little while. My ancient laptop was chugging along, making all sorts of concerning noises. I went and made myself a cup of coffee while it was doing its thing. Finally, it finished. Progress!
My First Project (Total Disaster)
Okay, so I opened up the program. It looked…complicated. Lots of buttons and menus and stuff I didn’t understand. I just started clicking around, trying to figure things out. I managed to import some random images I found online. I think they were supposed to be characters? I couldn’t really tell.
- Import Images: Check! (Sort of…)
- Figure out the interface: Uh…still working on that.
- Make something cool: Not even close.
I tried to get the images to do…something. I clicked on a bunch of different options. One of them made the image spin around really fast, which was kind of funny. Another one made it disappear entirely. I spent a good hour just messing around, making zero progress. It was like trying to assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions.
Slightly Less of a Disaster
After a lot of trial and error (mostly error), I managed to get two images to show up on the screen at the same time. They weren’t doing anything, just sitting there, but hey, it was something. I felt a tiny spark of accomplishment. Maybe I could actually figure this out.
Giving Up (For Now)
But then…I hit a wall. I couldn’t figure out how to make the images move, or how to add any kind of text, or, you know, actually make it into a game. I was getting frustrated, and my coffee had gone cold. So, I decided to call it quits for the day.
I saved my “project” (if you can even call it that). I’m not sure if I’ll ever open it again. Maybe villanow ga just isn’t for me. Or maybe I need to find some actual tutorials before I try again. Either way, it was an experience. A very confusing, slightly frustrating, but kind of interesting experience.
I will continue to explore when I have more time at the weekend.
