Alright, so I’ve been messing around with “Cyberpunk 2077” again lately, and this time I really wanted to change up the cars’ UI. It just felt a bit… bland, you know? I figured, why not make it look more like the futuristic, neon-drenched world the game is set in? So, I started looking around.

First thing I did was hit up some forums and modding sites. It’s always a good idea to see what other people have done. I found out that a bunch of folks are into modding this game, which is cool. There were lots of threads about different mods, some for gameplay, some for graphics, and of course, some for UI elements.
Digging Into the Files
After a bit of searching, I found a few promising UI mods. Most of them needed this thing called “Cyber Engine Tweaks,” so I downloaded and installed that first. It’s like a base for a lot of the cooler mods out there. Then I grabbed a specific mod called “Cyberpunk Car UI Overhaul” from some dude’s personal site. Seemed legit, and the screenshots looked awesome – all glowing lines and cool fonts.
Installation was pretty straightforward. Basically, you just drag and drop some files into the game’s directory. But I’m always careful with this stuff, so I backed up my original files first. Don’t want to mess up my game, right?
Oops, Little Snag
So, I fired up the game, excited to see the new UI. And… nothing. No change at all. I was like, “What the heck?” I double-checked the installation, made sure everything was in the right place, but still nothing. I even restarted the game a couple of times, thinking maybe it just needed a little nudge.
Then, it hit me. I remembered reading somewhere that some mods conflict with each other. I had a few other mods installed, mostly graphics stuff. So, I started disabling them one by one, testing the game after each one. It was a bit tedious, but I was determined to get this working.

Success!
Finally, I found the culprit! It was some texture mod I had installed, can’t recall the name exactly. Anyway, once I disabled that, the car UI mod worked perfectly! The in-game car UI was all lit up like a Christmas tree, in a good way. It really felt like I was driving some high-tech machine from the future. The fonts were sleek, the colors were vibrant, and it just made the whole driving experience so much more immersive.
It’s always a fun project to put some mods on your favorite games. I will say that you’ve got to be careful when you install mods, because not all mods get along. Sometimes you’ve just gotta play around a bit to see what’s causing problems, and always back up your save files!
- Downloaded Cyber Engine Tweaks
- Installed Cyber Engine Tweaks
- Downloaded Cyberpunk Car UI Overhaul mod
- Backed up original game files (very important!)
- Installed the UI mod (dragged and dropped files)
- Realized mod didn’t work initially
- Debugged by disabling other mods one by one
- Found conflicting mod (a texture mod)
- Disabled the conflicting mod
- Enjoyed the new cyberpunk-style car UI!
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with modding the car UI in “Cyberpunk 2077.” It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but totally worth it in the end. If you’re thinking about modding your game, I say go for it! Just be prepared for some trial and error, and always, always back up your files. Have fun playing!
