Well, let me tell you about this Phoenix Open thing, round two, and them tee times. It’s a big deal, you know. All them fancy golfers out there, hitting that little ball around. And Friday, oh boy, that’s when things really get going. They call it Waste Management Phoenix Open, sounds important, huh?

They got these tee times, see? That’s when each fella starts playing. And they got it all figured out, who goes when and with who. Like that Bud Cauley fella, he’s teeing off early one day and late the next. They switch it up, I guess to make it fair or something. PGA Tour, that’s who runs the whole show. They decide when everyone tees off. And it can change, you never know.
- Thursday, that’s one day.
- Friday, that’s another.
- Then there’s Saturday, I think.
They got these “groupings,” that’s what they call ’em. Like, who plays together. It’s like picking teams for a game, I reckon. And these tee times, they’re important, gotta be on time. Can’t be late for your tee time, no sir. And on Thursday and Friday, they got 1st and 2nd something… Rounds, I think they call ’em.
Now, this one fella, Brooks Koepka, he’s a big name, I hear. He’s playing in this thing too. And they got all these times listed out, when he’s supposed to start. It’s all very organized, like a church supper, but with golf.
And sometimes, they gotta stop playing on Friday and start again on Saturday. Like, the day just runs over. Don’t know why, maybe it gets dark, or they just need a break. These golfers, they got it rough, walking all over that grass. They got a cut, after round 2 they say. Some of them don’t get to play no more. It’s like, “You’re out!” and they gotta pack up and go home.
They got this other thing, this “Pro-AM” on Monday and Wednesday. I guess that’s when the pros, the good ones, play with the… well, I don’t know who the AMs are. Amateurs, maybe? Like regular folks, I guess. They start early, at 8:30 in the morning, and go till about 10:40. Like a morning shift at the factory, but with golf clubs.

Then there’s this place, TPC Scottsdale. That’s where they play this whole thing. Must be a nice place, lots of green grass, I bet. And people go there to watch. Lots of people. They say Sunday is less crowded, ’cause of some football game. But it’s still crowded, they say you might have to wait for hours to see something on hole 16. What’s so special about hole 16, I don’t know. They say Wednesday is best for that hole. But the crowds ain’t as rowdy.
Another golf thing is called PGA Championship. The 106th one! That must be a lot of golf. It’s at a place called Valhalla Golf Club. Fancy name. They start playing at 11:28 in the morning. And they got another one called the U.S. Open. This guy, Ludvig Aberg, he’s playing there for the first time. And the number one guy, Scottie Scheffler, he finished right on some 5-over thing. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important.
So, yeah, this Phoenix Open round 2 tee times, it’s a whole big thing. Lots of folks playing, lots of folks watching. And these tee times, they’re like the schedule for the whole shebang. Gotta know when your favorite fella is playing, so you can go watch him, or maybe just hear about it on the radio.
I guess if you like golf, it’s all very exciting. Me, I’d rather be sitting on my porch, drinking some sweet tea. But hey, to each their own, right? They got all these rules and numbers and things. It’s a lot to keep track of. But I guess that’s what makes it a sport. Like a complicated quilt, lots of pieces all stitched together.
So there you have it. That’s what I know about this Phoenix Open and them tee times. It’s a lot of fuss over a little white ball, if you ask me. But I guess folks like it. And that’s all that matters, right?
