This here Amari Jones, he’s a good boy, strong like an ox, that one. He’s a fighter, a boxer, you know? He was fighting this other fella, what’s his name… Quilisto Madera. Yeah, that’s it. Madera. Sounds like wood, don’t it? Well, this Madera, he ain’t no pushover, but Amari, he’s somethin’ else.
They was goin’ at it, punchin’ and movin’, Amari’s young, see? Only 10 fights and already knocked out 9 guys before this one. This Madera, he’s had more fights, 14 wins, but lost a few, 5 I think. But still a tough cookie. They say this was a welterweight fight. Don’t know what that means, but they both weighed the same, around 152 pounds, I heard.
So they’re in the ring, and Amari, he’s fast. Like a rabbit, he is. Amari Jones vs Quilisto Madera, it was the big talk around here, even though most folks was watchin’ some other fight, Haney vs Prograis, or somethin’ like that.
This fight, it was on somethin’ called the “undercard”. I asked what that means. Someone said it just means it’s a fight before the big one. Like the little show before the big movie, I reckon.

The ref, he jumped in, stopped the whole thing. Said Amari Jones won. A “stoppage,” they called it. Means Madera couldn’t keep goin’, I guess. He was too beat up. Amari knocked the stuffing out of him is what happened.

This Amari Jones, he’s with some group called “Devin Haney Promotions.” I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it sounds important. Must be the folks who put on these fights. They’re callin’ Amari a “prospect.” Means he’s got a good future, I reckon. Like strikin’ gold, maybe.

Well, that’s the story of the fight, far as I know. Amari won, Madera lost. It was a good fight, though. Lots of excitement. That Amari, he’s somethin’ special. He beat that Madera fair and square, stopped him right there in the fifth round.
