Alright, let’s talk about how I figured out when the next Springbok rugby game is happening. It’s something I do pretty regularly, gotta keep up with the Boks, you know?

Starting the Search
So, the other day, I realised I hadn’t checked the schedule in a while. Friends were asking about maybe getting together to watch, so I needed the solid info. First thing I did, naturally, was grab my phone. Didn’t even get up from the couch.
I just opened up my usual search engine. My go-to move is typing something simple right into the search bar. I think I started with:
- Springbok next game
- South Africa rugby schedule
- When do the Springboks play next
You know, stuff like that. Kept it simple.
Sorting Through the Results
Okay, so you hit search, and boom, tons of results pop up. Always happens. You get news articles, fan sites, official-looking pages, betting sites – everything.
My first step here is always to try and find something that looks like the official source. I tend to trust those more for dates and times. Sometimes news sites are quicker, but occasionally they get details slightly wrong, maybe the kickoff time in my local time zone, or something small.

I scanned through the first page of results. I ignored the obvious ads and looked for links that mentioned the official rugby body or the team itself. Found a couple that seemed promising.
I clicked into one that looked like a proper schedule page. It listed out matches, opponents, dates. This looked much better than just a news headline.
Checking the Details
Found a match listed! Great. But I didn’t stop there. I needed to be sure.
- Date: Checked the date carefully. Made sure it wasn’t last year’s schedule I’d stumbled upon (happens!).
- Opponent: Saw who they were playing against. Good to know.
- Venue: Noted where the game was being played. Home or away? Makes a difference to the kickoff time, obviously.
- Time: This is the tricky one. Often times are listed in local time for the venue, or GMT. I had to double-check and convert it to my own time zone. Sometimes sites have a little toggle for this, which is handy, but not always. Had to do a quick mental calculation this time.
I also quickly looked to see if it mentioned which competition it was part of – Rugby Championship, a friendly tour, World Cup, etc. Helps put the game in context.
Confirming and Finalising
Even after finding it on one site, I usually do a quick cross-check. I went back to my search results and opened one more link, preferably another one that looked official or very reputable, like a major sports news outlet known for rugby coverage.

Checked the date, opponent, and time there too. Matched up. Okay, good. Now I felt confident I had the right information.
So, I noted down the date and the time (in my local time!). Sent a quick message to my friends. Job done.
It wasn’t too hard this time, thankfully. Sometimes schedules change, especially way in advance, so I might check again closer to the date, but for now, I know when the next Springbok game is. Now just gotta wait for match day!
