My Day Out at Blue Fox Run in Avon, Connecticut
So, the other day, I found myself with a bit of free time, you know how it is. The weather wasn’t half bad, and I thought, “Right, gotta get out of the house.” I’d heard folks mention Blue Fox Run over in Avon, Connecticut, a few times. Never been, though. Figured, why not today?

Getting Myself Over There
Didn’t do much planning, to be honest. Just grabbed my keys, checked I had my wallet, and off I went. The drive over to Avon wasn’t too bad, actually. Put on some old tunes, rolled the windows down a bit. Sometimes those simple drives are the best, aren’t they? No real traffic jams, just a smooth ride. I remember thinking, “Hope this place is worth the gas.” Gas prices, eh? Don’t get me started on that.
First Impressions and What I Did
Pulling into Blue Fox Run, it looked pretty well-kept. Lots of green, which is always nice to see. It’s a golf course, a pretty decent sized one from the looks of it. I wasn’t really there to play a full 18 holes or anything, not dressed for it, but I like walking around these kinds of places. Sometimes they have a driving range or a little cafe, or just nice paths.
I ended up just walking around the perimeter a bit, where it was permissible, of course. Saw a few groups out on the fairways. Some were good, some… well, let’s just say they were having a fun day out, like me. The air was fresh. It was quiet too, apart from the thwack of a golf ball now and then, and some birds chirping away. It’s funny how places like this can be right near busier roads, but once you’re in them, it feels a world away.

I found a little spot with a bench, not far from the clubhouse, I think. Just sat there for a while. Watched a couple of squirrels chasing each other up a tree. It’s the little things, you know? Made me think about how I used to go fishing with my dad, not that this was a fishing spot, but just that feeling of being outdoors, no real agenda. We never caught much, but that wasn’t really the point, was it?
So, What’s the Verdict?
After a while, I figured I’d seen enough for a first visit. Headed back to the car. It wasn’t anything earth-shattering, no big adventure, but it was a perfectly fine way to spend a few hours. Just a nice, calm spot in Avon.
- Was it busy? Not overly, a steady stream of golfers but didn’t feel crowded where I was.
- Would I go back? Yeah, maybe. If I was in the area and wanted a quiet walk, or perhaps even to hit a few balls if I ever get back into golfing properly.
So that was my little trip to Blue Fox Run. Just a straightforward, simple outing. Sometimes, that’s all you need, isn’t it? A bit of fresh air and a change of scenery. Definitely beats staring at the same four walls all day.
