Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with these “Ascendant Challenges” in Destiny 2, right? They’re like these little secret dungeons that pop up in the Dreaming City, and they change every week. You gotta hunt down the entrance, which is always in a different spot – kinda like a treasure hunt, but with more shooting.

First off, you gotta grab the bounty for it. Petra Venj in the Dreaming City is your go-to gal for these. She’s usually hanging out somewhere obvious. Just walk up, grab the bounty, and you’re good to go on that front.
Now, these challenges take place in this weird, spooky place called the Ascendant Plane. It’s all floaty and purple. To get there, you need to use this thing called a “Tincture of Queensfoil.” It’s this potion that lets you see hidden stuff, including the portals to these challenges. Just pop one of those, and suddenly you can see where you need to go.
Finding the Portal
This is the tricky part, and honestly, it changes every week. One week the portal might be hiding in some ruins, the next it could be tucked away in a cave. You just gotta explore the Dreaming City, keeping an eye out for anything that looks… off. Remember, if you’ve used your Tincture, the portal should be pretty obvious, all glowy and stuff.
Jumping In and Surviving
Once I found the portal, I just jumped right in. Inside, it’s usually a mix of jumping puzzles and fighting off enemies. The enemies can be tough, especially if you’re under-leveled. I found that using a good mix of weapons helps, and also, don’t be afraid to use your Super ability. It can really save your butt.
Some weeks, the challenge is pretty straightforward – kill a bunch of dudes, maybe a boss, and you’re done. Other times, it’s more about figuring out the environment, like finding hidden platforms or activating weird symbols. I actually had to retry it a few times before I figured it all out, and it became clear.

The Rewards
After all that running around and shooting, you get some pretty decent loot. The bounty from Petra usually gives you some “Powerful Gear,” which is always nice for boosting your Power level. You also get these things called “Dark Fragments,” which are used for other stuff in the Dreaming City. I found it was really cool after spending time to get the loot.
Some Extra Thoughts
- The Dreaming City itself is on this three-week cycle, and the challenges are strongest during the third week, which is called “Curse Week.” You can tell it’s Curse Week because there are these weird Taken energy balls floating around. Just be prepared for a tougher fight during those weeks.
- Honestly, I had a good time doing these Ascendant Challenges. They’re a fun little break from the usual grind, and the rewards are worth it. Plus, exploring the Dreaming City is always a trip.
So yeah, that’s my experience with the Ascendant Challenges. If you’re playing Destiny 2 and haven’t tried them out, I definitely recommend giving them a shot. Just be prepared to explore, fight, and maybe die a few times. It’s all part of the fun!
