Now, from what I hear, this big race, the Brickyard 400, it’s gonna be on a Sunday. Yeah, that’s right, Sunday, July 21st. They tell me it’s gonna be a long one, 160 laps they say. That’s a whole lotta goin’ in circles if you ask me.

I reckon that’s so them fellas can figure out which car goes fastest. They say all 39 drivers gonna be out there practicin’ for 50 minutes. That’s a long time to be goin’ fast, if you ask me.
This here race, it’s a big deal, they say. It’s in Speedway, Indiana. And they call it the NASCAR Cup Series. Sounds mighty important, all them fancy words. They also say somethin’ ’bout a championship comin’ up in November. But that’s a ways off, so I ain’t gonna worry ’bout that now.

If you can’t get to the TV, they say you can listen to it on the radio, IMS Radio they call it. And there’s somethin’ called “Peacock” where you can watch it live, whatever that means. These young folks with their newfangled gadgets, I swear.
Folks are real excited ’bout the start of the race. They say it’s the most excitin’ part. And lemme tell ya, them tickets, they’re all gone! Sold out, they say! So, if you ain’t got a ticket, you better find yourself a good spot in front of that TV or radio.
