So, I wanted to catch the NASCAR race in Las Vegas the other day. You know how it is, you hear it’s race weekend, and you think, “Alright, I should watch that.” But then comes the first hurdle – figuring out exactly when the darn thing actually starts. It’s not always as straightforward as you’d hope.

My Process for Nailing Down the Start Time
First thing I did, naturally, was grab my tablet. I opened up my usual web browser. My go-to move for this kind of thing is just to type it straight into the search bar. So, I typed something like “nascar las vegas start time”. Pretty basic, right?
And yeah, a bunch of results popped up. That’s usually good, but sometimes it’s a bit of a mess. You get some sites talking about when the TV coverage begins, which can be an hour or even more before the actual green flag. I wasn’t really interested in all the pre-race chatter, not this time. I wanted to know when the cars would actually, you know, start racing.
So, I had to do a bit of clicking around. I usually try to find the official NASCAR site if I can, or at least a major sports news outlet. They tend to be more accurate with the actual race start. Some of the smaller blogs or forums, well, you never know if they’re a bit off or haven’t updated.
Then comes the next little wrinkle: time zones. This is the big one for me. Las Vegas is in the Pacific Time zone. I’m not. So, I always have to double-check. Is the time listed in PT? Is it automatically converted to my local time? If you get that wrong, you’re either tuning in way too early or, worse, you miss the start entirely. Been there, done that, and it’s always frustrating.
- I looked for “PT”, “ET”, or some kind of indicator.
- Sometimes, if the site is smart, it shows it in your local time, but I never fully trust that without checking.
- I usually do a quick mental calculation or use a time zone converter if I’m unsure.
After a few minutes of this, I found a reliable source that clearly stated the green flag time. It was pretty clear, listed in Eastern Time as well, which made it easy for me. While I was at it, I also jotted down the TV channel. Might as well get all the info in one go, I figured.

So, that was my little quest to find out the NASCAR Las Vegas start time. It wasn’t rocket science, obviously. But it’s one of those things where you have to pay a little attention to the details to get it right. Just thought I’d share my quick run-through. Now I knew when to have my snacks ready and be on the couch. That’s the important part, after all.
