Hitting the Links at Klipper
Decided to head out to Klipper Golf Course the other day. Heard a lot about it, especially the views, so figured it was time to check it out myself. Getting onto the base wasn’t too bad, just had to show ID and follow the signs. Found the pro shop easy enough.

Checked in, grabbed a cart. The folks in the shop were alright, pretty straightforward. Didn’t spend much time looking around, just wanted to get out on the course. It was a bit busy, but things seemed to be moving okay.
Out on the Course
Rolled up to the first tee. Right away, you notice the setting. It’s right there by the water. Pretty impressive, honestly. Took my first swing, wasn’t great, wasn’t terrible. Just getting warmed up.
The course itself was in decent shape. Greens were rolling pretty true, maybe a little quick for my liking, but fair. Fairways were mostly good, couple of patchy spots here and there, nothing major. The layout felt kind of open on some holes, tighter on others. You definitely have to think about where you want to hit the ball.
What really stands out is the scenery. Seriously, some of those holes run right along the ocean. The views are the real deal here. Makes it hard to concentrate on your shot sometimes. Had to just stop and take it in a few times. The wind was a factor too, especially on the holes closer to the water. Made club selection tricky.
- Had a couple of good pars.
- Definitely found a bunker or two.
- Lost one ball to the Pacific, wasn’t happy about that.
- Pace of play was okay, waited a bit on a few holes but mostly kept moving.
Wrapping Up
Finished up the round feeling pretty good. Shot wasn’t my best ever, but wasn’t my worst either. The course itself is solid, challenging enough without being impossible. But you’re really paying for the location and those views, let’s be honest.

Dropped off the cart, didn’t hang around much afterwards. Overall, it was a good day of golf. It’s a unique place to play, being right on the water like that. Glad I went and experienced it. Might go back again sometime, especially if I can snag a decent tee time.
