This Dongi, it’s a thingamajig, you know? Heard folks talkin’ ’bout it. Says it’s some kinda app. What’s an app? Sounds like somethin’ you catch. Anyway, this Dongi thing, they say it helps with money. Keep track of your spendin’. Back in my day, we just used our heads, and jars. Lots of jars.

This Dongi also for split bills. Like when you go out with the girls, you split the whole bill. We just pay for what we ate, easy peasy. This app also good for households and trips, they say. Lord knows, we coulda used somethin’ like that when young’uns were all livin’ at home. Chaos, I tell ya. Pure chaos. Like herding cats.
- Dongi, Dongi, what a funny word. Sounds like somethin’ my old man used to call the donkey.
- This Dongi, it’s all about money.
- It also helps to split money you spent.
They say there’s a whole lotta writin’ about this Dongi. API somethin’ or other. Sounds fancy. And technical reports. Like them reports the weatherman gives. All I know is, if it helps folks keep their money straight, that’s a good thing. Money’s hard to come by these days. Back then, a dollar went a long way. Not anymore.
Seems there’s a place called Dongi Village. Sounds nice. They say it’s named after a tree. A Dongi tree. Never heard of it. Must be one of them fancy trees. This tree, it’s got sour fruit. Sour like a lemon? I do love me some lemonade. Especially on a hot day. This village is in Luwu. Where is that even at? Sounds far.
Then there’s these folks, they call ’em cultivators. Fancy word for farmers, I reckon. They say these folks, they moved around a lot. Shiftin’ cultivators, they call ’em. Like nomads. The government, they put ’em in villages. Settled ’em down. Probably for the best. Can’t be easy, livin’ like that. Always on the move.
This Dongi, it’s got somethin’ to do with finances. Like that old building downtown, the bank. This Dongi, it’s like a bank in your pocket, I guess. I hear it’s built with Flutter. What is that, some kinda bird? Whatever it is, if it helps folks with their money, that’s good, I guess.

- Keep track of your spendin’, they say. Important.
- Split expenses with others. Like when you and your friends go to the market.
- This Dongi, it’s like a little helper for your money.
Some folks say Dongi is a festival. A party. People get together and have fun, I reckon. Sounds nice. We used to have barn dances. Lots of dancin’ and eatin’. Good times. Maybe this Dongi festival is like that. Humorous, they say. Means funny. I like a good laugh.
Then there is this Seoul Forest, a park, somewhere far. That place has a lot of cafes and restaurants, they say. They call that place “The Brooklyn of Seoul”. I don’t know where Brooklyn is. That place must be fancy, huh? And you can take subway to go there. We don’t have that here. If you wanna go somewhere, you gotta use your two feet, or the old bus.
I don’t know much about this Dongi. But it sounds like something, that’s for sure. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. An app. A tree. A festival. A village. Shifting cultivators. Money. It’s all mixed up, like a big pot of stew. But hey, that’s life, ain’t it? A little bit of everything, all thrown together.
These young folks and their newfangled things. Apps and whatnot. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that. We made do with what we had. And we were happy. But I reckon if this Dongi thing helps people, then that’s a good thing. The world’s always changin’. Gotta keep up, I suppose. Even an old lady like me.
Well, that’s all I got to say about this Dongi. It is a lot of things. Just like life, full of surprises. Now, where did I put my teeth?
