Okay, so I’ve always been a huge golf fan, and like many of you, I dream of going to the Masters. Every year, I’d hear about this mythical Masters ticket lottery, but I never really looked into it. This year, I decided, “Why not?” I was going to figure out this whole lottery thing.

First, I started digging around to find out when the lottery even opened. Turns out, it usually opens around June. I made a note to myself to keep an eye out for it. I marked it on my calendar and set reminders on my phone, didn’t want to miss that window.
When June rolled around, I hopped online and found the application. It was pretty straightforward. I created an account, filled in my details, and crossed my fingers. I remember thinking, “This is it! I might actually have a chance!” I applied for both practice round tickets and tournament day tickets. The practice rounds are cheaper, and honestly, it’d be amazing just to be there, you know?
Then came the waiting game. It felt like forever! They said they’d notify everyone by late July. Every day, I was checking my email, hoping for that golden ticket, so to speak. I’d see articles pop up about the lottery, and the odds, it was nerve-wracking! Some folks online were saying the chances were super slim. But hey, someone’s got to win, right?
Finally, late July arrived. I got the email. I held my breath and opened it. Sadly, it wasn’t the news I’d hoped for. I didn’t win this time. It was a bummer, no doubt. I was pretty disappointed, I won’t lie.
But, I did learn a lot through this whole process. If you do win, you’re looking at around $100 for each practice round ticket, maybe more. Tournament days are pricier, closer to $140. And you can only buy a limited number of tickets, even if you win.

So, even though I didn’t get to go this year, I’m not giving up. I’ll be applying again next year. And who knows, maybe I’ll see some of you there! It’s all part of the fun, right? This whole experience just made me more determined to get there one day.
- Step 1: Find out when the lottery opens (usually in June).
- Step 2: Apply online, create an account, and fill in your details.
- Step 3: Wait until late July for the results (this is the hardest part!).
- Step 4: If you win, be ready to pay around $100+ per practice round ticket or $140+ per tournament day ticket.
- Step 5: If you don’t win, like me this year, don’t give up! Try again next year.
It’s a long shot, but hey, that’s what makes it exciting. Good luck to everyone who enters the lottery! Maybe our paths will cross at Augusta National one day!
