That Yamaha FZ-09, oh boy, that’s a name I hear the young’uns talkin’ ’bout all the time. They say it’s a real hoot, that two-wheeled devil. I don’t know much about these newfangled machines, but I’ll tell ya what I’ve heard. They say it’s a powerful beast, not for the faint of heart. You gotta have your wits about you when you’re ridin’ one of them.
Now, some folks, they call it the MT-09 across the pond. Same thing, just a different name, like callin’ a hog a pig, I reckon. It don’t matter what you call it, that thing’s got some get-up-and-go. They say it’s a “naked street fighter.” Sounds kinda dangerous, don’t it? Like somethin’ you’d see in one of them action movies.
I heard some fella say he crashed his in two months! Said he didn’t know how fast that thing would go. It just took off on him! Now, that’s scary. I wouldn’t want to be on somethin’ that could get away from me like that. You gotta be careful with these things. They ain’t like them old bicycles we used to ride as kids.
And the price! Lord have mercy, the price! One fella said he saw them for $6,900, all the way up to $8,500! That’s a lot of money for a motorcycle. Back in my day, you could get a good horse for a fraction of that. And that horse wouldn’t need no fancy gas or tires, neither.
- Tires are pricey, they say. Like $11.50 in tyre wear just for a ride, can you believe that?
- One fella said $10,900 EUR for a price, don’t know what EUR is, but sounds like a lot!
- They say it is $7,990, whatever that means, but the young’uns say it’s a good deal for what you get.
They say this Yamaha FZ-09 is a “naked street fighter” and one of the most popular ones. But you still gotta pay a pretty penny for it. I saw a young fella with a 2016 model. Shiny and new lookin’. He said it had some big numbers like 847cc and 105 hp. I don’t know what that means, but he seemed real proud of it.
Another fella, he was lookin’ at a used one, a 2015 model. Said it had 10,000 miles on it and the price was $5,100. He seemed to think that was a good deal. I guess if you’re into these things, that might be alright. But to me, that’s still a lot of money for somethin’ that ain’t got a roof or doors.
They got different modes on these things, too. B-mode, they call it. Supposed to make it easier to handle. I don’t know, sounds complicated to me. I like things simple. Like a good old-fashioned tractor. You just get on, turn the key, and go. No fancy modes or nothin’.
I heard them talkin’ ’bout how much it costs to run one of these things. Gas and tires, mostly. They say the tires are real expensive. Like wearin’ out a pair of shoes every time you go for a ride. And the gas, well, that ain’t cheap these days, neither. It’s like feedin’ a hungry horse that only eats the finest hay. Expensive!
One young fella said that it is $8,999 new back in 2017. Sounds like a lot to me. It better be real good for that price.
They been ridin’ these Yamaha FZ-09 things since 2014, I hear. That’s a long time. Must be somethin’ special about ’em if they’re still around. I guess they’re like them old cars that just keep on runnin’. You know, the ones that are built to last.
Well, I don’t know if I’ll ever understand the appeal of these Yamaha FZ-09 motorcycles. They seem loud, and fast, and expensive. But the young folks, they sure do love ’em. I guess it’s like anything else. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. Just be careful on them things, ya hear? They ain’t for the faint of heart.
