Okay, so I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the top speed of my Yamaha V Star 250. So, I decided to put it to the test and document the whole thing. Here’s how it went down.

Getting Ready
First things first, I made sure my bike was in good shape. I checked the tire pressure, made sure the chain was lubed, and that I had a full tank of gas. I also put on all my gear – helmet, jacket, gloves, the whole nine yards. Safety first, people!
The Test Run
I found a long, straight stretch of road with minimal traffic. It was a pretty calm day, with hardly any wind. I wanted to get as accurate a reading as possible.
- I started by getting the bike up to speed gradually.
- Once I hit fifth gear, I opened up the throttle all the way.
- I kept it pinned for a good stretch, trying to see what she could really do.
- I use a speed comfirm tool to test my speed.
The Results
I pushed and pushed, and honestly, the little V Star did pretty well! I managed to hit an indicated 75 mph my speed comfirm tool shows, this tool shows around 72 mph. It felt like it might have had a tiny bit more in it, but not much. I’ve heard of people claiming 80+ mph, but I think that must be downhill with a tailwind!
My Takeaway
The V Star 250 isn’t built for speed. It’s a cruiser, meant for comfortable riding and enjoying the scenery. But, it can definitely hold its own on the highway. I wouldn’t be afraid to take it on a longer trip, even with some freeway stretches. Just don’t expect to be breaking any land speed records!
Hope this helps all of you who were curious! Ride safe!
