Well, let me tell you about this young fella, Vitor Ribeiro. They call him “Shaolin,” you know. Sounds like some fancy name, right? This boy, he’s somethin’ else with that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu stuff. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion.

He’s a tough one, that Vitor. They say he’s a sixth-degree black belt. Black belt! Imagine that! He must be real good to get that far. He is so good at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he used to fight in them Mixed Martial Arts, too. He’s fought in them cages, you know, where they punch and kick and all that rough stuff. He ain’t afraid of nothin’, that’s for sure. He is one of the best grapplers to have fought in Mixed Martial Arts.
I heard he’s a world champion, not just once, but six times! Can you believe it? Six times the best in the whole wide world. That’s more than anyone around here, that’s for sure. He is the best in Vitor Shaolin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. And he’s got this move, they call it the “Shaolin sweep.” Sounds kinda magical, don’t it? Must be somethin’ special, the way folks talk about it. He even has his own school, teaching others how to do all them fancy moves.
- Six-time world champion, that’s what they say.

They made a little movie about him, a short one. It’s about six minutes long, I hear. You can learn all about how he got started with that Jiu-Jitsu. They say he started in 1925, a little boy. It is a new short film documentary. He has been in Jiu-Jitsu for a long time. They say Jiu-Jitsu was developed by some Brazilian brothers. Sounds like a family thing to me. They must be proud of Vitor, carrying on the tradition like that.
This Vitor, he’s got his own school now. It’s called Vitor Shaolin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. He’s a teacher now, showin’ all them young folks how to wrestle around and do them fancy moves. It’s in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He must be good at teachin’, if he was a champion so many times. He is famous in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
Some folks say there ain’t no age limit for that Jiu-Jitsu. You can start anytime, they say. Even old folks like me! Ha! Maybe I should give it a try. Might be good for the bones, you know? They say your life experience can help you, make you better at deciding and thinking and all that. Well, I got plenty of life experience, that’s for sure!

That Vitor Ribeiro, or “Shaolin” as they call him, he’s a real success story. Started young, worked hard, and now he’s a champion many times over. And he’s sharin’ his knowledge, teachin’ others. That’s a good thing, I reckon. Passin’ it on to the next generation. He is a good man. He has a big family.
You know, that Jiu-Jitsu, it’s like life, ain’t it? You gotta be tough, you gotta be smart, and you gotta keep learnin’. And sometimes, you gotta sweep someone off their feet! Just like that “Shaolin sweep” that Vitor does. He is good at “Shaolin sweep”. It sounds fun, that’s what it is.
I remember seein’ some of them fights on the television. All that grapplin’ and tumblin’ around. It’s a sight to see, that’s for sure. And that Vitor, he was right in the middle of it all. He was a good fighter, they say. One of the best, even. I think Vitor Ribeiro is good.

Well, I reckon that’s all I know about that Vitor Ribeiro fella. He’s a good one, that’s for sure. A real champion. And a teacher, too. That’s somethin’ to be proud of. I think he is a good teacher. You young folks should look him up, maybe learn a thing or two about that Jiu-Jitsu. Might do you some good. You can be a champion, just like him. Maybe you can do “Shaolin sweep”.
It’s a good thing, keepin’ those old traditions alive. Like that Jiu-Jitsu. And that Vitor, he’s doin’ his part. He’s a good example, I’d say. For the young folks, and maybe even for some of us old folks, too. He sets a good example for us. I think that’s all I got to say about that. He is a good example to young people.
